Autumn had a couple of litters with me and was persistent in throwing fuzzy or soft-coated kits. Ergo it was time for her to move to a new home as I dislike getting fuzzies. She'll be living at a petting zoo. She should do well there as she's a friendly girl and an easy keeper.
So Autumn here was born in July 2019 and when off to a pet home. She came back her last fall I think along with her sister who went to a different home.

Born March 25 to Autumn and Timer, this young tort boy has moved to his new home. A social, happy lad I expect him to mature to be much like his dad. Dad is a busy boy and always wants to have something do. He went through a quiet teenage time, and came out the other side as a busy, very curious boy.
Clementine reminds me a lot of his dad at this age. He's a half-brother to Wilbur who his new family apparently knows. :) He came from a litter of six with mixed colours of tricolour, orange and tort in his siblings. When I think of the "E" rabbits of the world, the very first rabbit I think of is the English Lop. Now Gregory (pictured below) is not a full English Lop, they have much longer ears, but this is the closest I have to a picture of them. Did you know the the English Lop is known as the "King of Fancy"? People who raise them say they are very dog-like in their personalities. I know the Gregory is one of the sweetest, yet most demanding rabbit I have ever known. The English Lop club has more information on this lovely breed. Let's continue discovering the "E" rabbits of the world. Other E rabbits that I am familiar with are the English Angora and the English Spot. The English Angora was developed in France and is known for it's preponderance of wool. English Angoras, like the other Angora breeds, are breed for their wool. It is plunked or sheared in order to spin the wool to use in a variety of projects. When you go to a rabbit show the Angora breeders have their own corner as there will be wool floating everywhere! The English Spot was appropriately enough developed in England. Their club tells me this breed was developed in the late 1800's. This is a running breed known for their specific markings which matures to 8 lbs maximum. They are a fun breed to watch on the table. Lesser known BreedsLesser known breeds include the Elfin, and the Enderby Island Rabbits. The Elfin rabbit is now known as the Swedish Hare so I'll discuss them more when we get the the "S" rabbits. I found this video on the Enderby Island rabbits. They are a medium sized rabbit that live on Enderby Island near New Zealand. Autumn is actually available now. Approximately a 4 lb doe. Fully Pedigreed. Speck, broken blue, available in about 4 weeks. Currently About 4 lbs. Full pedigreed. Step is partially pedigreed but out of purebred lines. about 3.5 lbs. available in about 3 weeks. Still Deciding AboutAbout 3.5 lbs. Chinchilla. Fully Pedigreed. Be at least four weeks. About 3.5 lbs. Chocolate Tricolour. Fully Pedigreed. Be at least four weeks. Flower, Tricolour. Fully Pedigreed. Be at least three weeks yet. About 4.5 lbs currently.
So Webb made this huge nest, and I was expecting a bundle of kits, but.....it took me a while to find these two big, bruised up kits tucked into a very small corner of the nestbox. Webb persisted in sitting in the box and the kits weren't looking very good so I fostered them over to Speck. I'm not sure if they will stay with her or if I'll be doing some juggling around. Watch Me GrowThe last of my kits from my Ascot and Gregory litter of Feb 26 have found their way into their new homes.
This gorgeous girlie is off to a life of luxury in a pet home. I hope she does well for her new people. So it's been a while since I've had this happen with a doe. Speck kindled one kit early May 4. Probably born dead, she worked on removing it. I thought hmm.. odd for her to only have one kit, and thought to take out the nestbox but rethought that idea. I came out later that afternoon to find six kits in the box in a well-made tidy nest. Watch Me GrowThese four kiddos are off Ascot and Gregory. Ascot is a large New Zealand white, Gregory is a English Lop-New Zealand mix. This Friendly, unassuming boy is off to a pet home. So delighted he's got a home that suits his personality. i expect him to turn out like his dad. Smart, and wanting to stick his nose into everything. Dad Gregory greets almost every baby born into the rabbit with a solid sniff. He'll thump loudly if I don't let him poke his head out when I"m working in the rabbitry. So of course, he gets his own way. :) I used to let him out into a playpen but he figured out how to get out so that doesn't happen anymore. :) Scooby is a well-natured but pushier boy. He'll be well-suited to a pet/breeding home which is where he is going. He'll probably be somewhat temperamental as a teenager but should settle into a confident adult.
The girls are very similiar in personality. If they are like their mom, they will be nice friendly adults when they don't have kits. When they have kits, they will be protective and need bribing to let you see their kits. Ascot bribes easily with bread crusts, apple cores and mixed grains. Once she's eating, she's mindful but not in your face about it. Ascot was a CLUMSY first time mom but has improved with each litter she has had. She's a solidly good doe and I expect these girls to be just as solid. Five kits born to this duo. 3 Dark and 2 light kits from what I tell. A well made nest. Chestnut, tort, black, orange Watch Me GrowFive kits born to this duo. Broken and solid kits from what I can tell thus far. A well made nest, doing a good job thus far. Watch Me Grow |
AuthorI have been breeding rabbits for a quite a few years. I thoroughly enjoy them as animals and think they make great pets. I also like to take some of them to rabbit shows to see how they measure up to the standards. For the BEST rabbit forum I've ever found. Go to Rabbittalk.com. Good for the pet rabbit owner as well as the breeder for meat or show.
