Five kits born to this first time mom. Made nest in cage corner not in box. Will move nest in couple of days/ Five nicely marked broken kits.
So I was directed HERE by one of the rabbit boards I follow. It caused my curiousity to arise... about how many bunnies are out in wheelchairs.
I have to admit, I have strong concerns about the one that Bertha is in. When she lies down her back at at this huge angle which cannot be good for her. Imhave a stronger regard for this one.
I still don't like the angle that bunnies back will be at, but it's better than Bertha's don't you think? That ease of mobility? Neat isn't it?
So if your bunny suffers a back injury for whatever reason, this might be something you want to consider.
Some kid made this one for an injured cottontail.... CUT the sound to avoid the annoying music. it's unneeded to watch the video.
Sometimes indeed it might be kinder to euthanize the bunny. Seriously.
You have to weigh out the pros and cons...some bunnies won't like a restraint... like the one bunny I saw that kept nipping at his harness. And Bertha looked so disheveled in her get up and another I saw that I wondered if was truly good for the bunny.. or if it was just better for the owners feelings.
Consider your animal before you consider your own feelings. THAT is what must be looked at first.
Other than the hardware cloth used as a base, this is a fairly well designed rabbit hutch for outdoor buns. Use REAL cage wire. Better on the bunny feet.
Deer and bunny playing. Might make you smile.
The deer is having so much fun.
Here's more on the story.
These two kiddos headed off to the pet store today. The polish was supposed to go to a Pet home but they never got back to me and I chose not to keep her as I'd rather not have solid black bunnies in my rabbitry and she was getting a tad large. She was a bigger than a chocolate doe I kept from a litter month earlier. :) The Holland I let go as she had nestbox eye as a kit and I don't keep rabbits who get that as I am convinced it is immunological related condition.
Sold two cages, the wood one was dropped off with a couple of rabbits (which are going to the KW area) and the plastic bottomed that will be used for holding a guinea pig.
Also sold a mouse as a pet. A pretty grey agouti and white one.
Kit off JoLea and Camden has found a new home! :) Two little girls are delighted with their new pet.
I have been breeding rabbits for a quite a few years. I thoroughly enjoy them as animals and think they make great pets. I also like to take some of them to rabbit shows to see how they measure up to the standards.
For the BEST rabbit forum I've ever found. Go to Rabbittalk.com. Good for the pet rabbit owner as well as the breeder for meat or show.
