Born June 18 to LilyBane x Sparksbranch, Miss Nudge took an extra bit of time to find her new home. A missing foot ruined my hopes of keeping this remarkable young doe as my very own. She's a bit of a sweetheart and is off to discover new lands and territories. Hopefully she will not need surgery in the future, only time will tell.
This young lad found his way into a new home this weekend. Named Groot by this young lad. He's off BrightSong x SparksBranch, born July 13.
Tiny has found himself a new home in Ridgetown. This sweet well-mannered lad is off to a home with two children. He's the last of LilyFlower's line. LilyFlower X BonFire born June 18.
One of the things I often talk about with my rabbit buyers is think like a rabbit when feeding them greens. Rabbits LOVE fresh food, but not all fresh food is the most rabbit friendly. My rabbits eat a lot of weeds out of my garden, and to my sister's chagrin, I'll even grow weeds for the rabbits. This morning I was struggling with finding the right name for a common weed the rabbits love so I went searching for what it was called and discovered this great site for ONTARIO weeds. Seriously.. it's a great site. Weed Info. What do I like about this site? It gives common and Latin name, provides plenty of images, and has a search feature. It will be a great site for me to refer people to if they don't know what prickly lettuce is. Mind.. people will still need to research if it's safe for bunnies, but if you know the true name, it makes it easier to do the research. Take for instance one of my favourite weeds: Prickly Lettuce. They have the write up, with black white drawings.
Then at the bottom they have pictures taken of different stages of the plants life. Why do I love prickly lettuce? 1. It's a thistle type plant which rabbits love 2. it's great to give to bunnies who are starting to struggle with gut issues. 3. it grows REALLY easily. I started with one plant five years ago and now it crops up everywhere. :) 4. It keeps coming back when I cut it back for feeding. My last boyo from LilyBane and SparksBranch's litter found himself a new home today!! WOOT WOOT. this nice young boy was needing to get away from his sister so I"m delighted he's found a home.
This handsome young rabbit from LilyBane x Sparksbranch born on July 19 was picked up on Saturday to go to his new home in Port Elgin. I was so tempted to keep this boy but couldn't really justify doing so. :)
Four days late in kindling with a big litter, BlueStone surprised me. Eager to see the colour on two of her younglings. Great nest with good attitude, hopefully this litter will have no issues in growing. Watch Me GrowThis girlie is actually a black otter, she's just faintly marked. She's off to a home in Tillsonburg. LilyBane x SparksBranch daughter of June 16.
Can't say I like this doe all that much...she gets rather full of attitude during pregnancy and her first litter was a bust. She also isn't very pretty with her unlopped ears and won't use a nestbox. I bred her to go with two other does but I'm not sure at this point that either took. So hopefully she'll raise her seven kits (five I know are normals, two I'm in wait and see mode). Hopefully she'll do a good job and in 10 days I'll move her back to her regular cage. August 8 found her feeding them in the nestbox after needing to help her feed her kits. WOOT WOOT she's raising her own kits. Two kits were peanuts. Watch Me Grow |
AuthorI have been breeding rabbits for a quite a few years. I thoroughly enjoy them as animals and think they make great pets. I also like to take some of them to rabbit shows to see how they measure up to the standards. For the BEST rabbit forum I've ever found. Go to Rabbittalk.com. Good for the pet rabbit owner as well as the breeder for meat or show.
