This brother and sister duo arrived as a trio. The third was not as nicely tempered as these two are. I was told they were Flemish Giants but the doe is very fine boned, and the buck is not as heavy a bone as Flemish I've had in the past. They are seven months old (give or take a bit). I love the chinchilla colour so this boy will be sticking around a while. :)

A two hour trip for her owner, a one hour trip for me, plus family help and a young rabbit from Cherry and Gregory found her way to a new home.
Born as part of a litter of 11, born July 1, 2021. A sweet-natured young bunny who should make for an excellent pet. She'll be called Isuzu. So I had this fellow as an exchange for a different young buck and I thought I'd keep him to replace Gregory eventually. Put a fellow called me today wanting a couple of my large breed bunnies. This fellow (whom I've been calling Davey) went along. If I recall correctly he's off Cherry. This young doe was born June 10, part of a litter of 10. Her momma survived heat issues, a raccoon and rats and still managed to raise up 4 kits. Well done Ascot! Gregory is dad.
11 kits born to Frosty and Gregory. Some of these kits already show sallander markings. Watch Me GrowAdeline and Arlo found their forever homes today. Arlo is going to get neutered soon as he can be, and Adeline might have a litter of kits first... they aren't sure. But eventually Adeline will be neutered too. But delighted mom! Delighted girls! Arlo is obviously delighted... I fully expect Arlo to be as gregarious as his father Gregory. Adeline takes after her mom who is a shy quiet girl who takes her time developing trust. It will be great to see how she develops.
Born on May 16, 2021, as part of a litter of 11. Arlo was one of two fawns and Adeline one of three Sallanders in the litter. The rest were frosties, and one a creamy colour that might develop ticking as it ages. So a while back a feller bought an entire litter off of me. Today we exchanged one of the bucks for this young grower. He gets genetic diversity, I get a buck to eventually replace Gregory.
This fellow is a Frosty/Gregory kit. Born May 16. Part of litter of 11, nine of which made it through to weaning. Mom Frosty was a first time mom. This fellow is the biggest of the boys. Miss Ascot surprised me. Normally she has her kits, then pulls wads of fur. Today, tons of fur pulled, no kits.. I was a bit concerned as she acting all protective doe-like which she always does for two weeks post kindle. I come in later to find her in the box kindling. She pushed out 10 kits, one of which was DOA, but nine dark kits growing. Hopefully one of the bucks will be a keeper! Watch Me GrowYOu won't believe it if I told you. A feller came by the other day wanting some meat rabbits. I had this thought in my head he'd want 3-5 of my youngsters. Raise them up, have babies, eat the offspring. Provide well for himself and his kin. INSTEAD.... I bought all 11 of Cherry's littles! Five boys, six girls. Nice to know they have a place to be. They'll be leaving next week after he finishes building cages for them all. He said it shouldn't take long.
I was starting to think that Frosty had missed when she surprised me with a well-made nest with 11 kits tucked inside. Her kits vary widely in size which I find very interesting. I hope they pull through as some are very tiny. All are light in colour. The last of my kits from my Ascot and Gregory litter of Feb 26 have found their way into their new homes.
This gorgeous girlie is off to a life of luxury in a pet home. I hope she does well for her new people. |
AuthorI have been breeding rabbits for a quite a few years. I thoroughly enjoy them as animals and think they make great pets. I also like to take some of them to rabbit shows to see how they measure up to the standards. For the BEST rabbit forum I've ever found. Go to Rabbittalk.com. Good for the pet rabbit owner as well as the breeder for meat or show.
